You Are What You Think You Are

Perception is one of our six mental faculties. Your mental faculties include imagination, will, memory, reason, intuition, and perception. Perception is our point of view towards our life, and what we become aware of throughout our daily lives. It’s how our subconscious mind processes things throughout the day.

Many people are not even aware of these mental faculties, which can be detrimental to many areas of our lives. Our mental faculties can and will control us if we don’t first learn to control them.

For example, perception is how you create your reality. If your perception of yourself is that you lack experience, money, or the ability to achieve your goals, and you focus on what you can’t do rather than what you can, you won’t see new results. By concentrating on scarcity instead of abundance, you will only attract more of the same.

Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, said, “You cannot be ready to receive that which you desire until you believe you can—and will—acquire it.” If we view ourselves negatively, or we don’t have the belief we can succeed, we will only attract results that align with that frequency.

Think of perception as a filter in your subconscious mind. Our perception will determine what our subconscious processes throughout the day.

There are two criteria that influence what filters into your subconscious mind: what aligns with your current beliefs and what your mind considers important to you right now. The good news is that we always have the power to shift these. Practice this until you find what works best for you.
